Which professions are currently in highest demand, and which will be needed in the future

The Ukrainian labor market continues to evolve. Despite the war, employers are actively seeking staff, and for certain vacancies, they offer salaries exceeding 30,000 UAH.

At the same time, not only young specialists but also candidates with extensive experience are increasingly valued.

This was shared by Viktoriia Vasylieva, Director of the Employment Policy Implementation Department at the State Employment Center, as reported by kanaldim.tv.

Who is most needed

Drivers are at the top. Especially certain categories, international drivers, as a considerable number of men have been mobilized, and logistics and fuel, humanitarian aid delivery are only growing. Drivers have been in demand for at least three years, and in some regions, their shortage reaches 30-40%.

The construction sector. There is a lack of skilled bricklayers, roofers, design engineers, electric welders, and turners, especially those with high skill ratings. Employers are actively seeking such specialists.

Which professions currently offer salaries over 30 thousand UAH

“A salary of 30 thousand UAH is not new to the Ukrainian market. For certain professions, this is the starting level. The salaries of drivers, especially international ones, can reach 100, 120, or even 150 thousand UAH. These are vacancies at least in our database,” says Viktoriia Vasylieva.

Medical personnel: mid-level and junior staff, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, psychotherapists… Their salaries are currently being increased because they are critically needed to work with both civilians and military personnel.

In the private sector, this mainly concerns dentistry. Salaries there can reach 80-100 thousand UAH. However, private dental clinics rarely post their vacancies. I believe they find candidates themselves, which is why we don’t see them in our listings.

Which professions, in your opinion, will be in highest demand in 5-10 years

According to the expert, this is difficult to predict. However, it will likely still be construction – as we will need to rebuild the country, and such specialists will be in huge demand. The humanitarian sector, particularly demining and sappers.

“If you lack the relevant skills, now is the best time to realize your potential: change your profession, master something new, and ultimately change your life. Because today, it’s not so much an employee who can boast about their 20 years of experience who is valued, but rather a person who is capable of learning quickly, being active, and mobile,” she says.
