American startup Refer has introduced a job search service that operates on the principle of a ‘reverse recruiter’.
Startup Refer has launched a service where an AI agent assists in finding vacancies, sends recommendations to employers on behalf of the candidate, and charges a fee only after successful employment. The commission is 20% of the first month’s salary.

The ‘Reverse Recruiter’ Model

American startup Refer has unveiled a job search platform operating on a ‘reverse recruiter’ basis. Unlike traditional recruitment agencies that represent companies, this service advocates for candidates, finding suitable job openings for them.
Instead of a human consultant, users interact with an AI agent named Lia. The candidate provides Lia with their experience, desired position, salary expectations, and other preferences. Subsequently, the system identifies appropriate vacancies. If the individual agrees, Lia prepares an introductory letter and forwards it to the hiring manager.

According to the company, over half of the candidates receive interview invitations within 24 hours after Lia sends a recommendation. Refer also claims to have facilitated over 5,000 interviews and collaborates with more than 2,000 employers who accept such referrals.

Payment Upon Employment Only

The service requires no upfront payment. If a candidate secures employment through the platform, they pay the company 20% of their first month’s earnings. The startup notes that it primarily handles positions in the technology sector, where compensation levels are typically higher.
With the proliferation of artificial intelligence, the hiring process is becoming increasingly automated. Candidates are utilizing AI for crafting resumes and cover letters, while employers employ automated systems for initial application screening. Refer proposes leveraging artificial intelligence from the job seeker’s perspective as well.
